Before you write

Settings, in plain words

Load pictures from the internet. Some emails show pictures that sit on a website, not inside the email. Off (the default): those pictures stay blank and Recordvert never uses the internet. On: they are downloaded when the PDF is made, and the sender may be able to tell the email was opened.

Save original attachments. Keeps each attachment exactly as it was sent. Turn it off to skip the original files.

Convert attachments to PDF. Makes PDF copies of PDFs, pictures, text files and Word files. Excel, PowerPoint and other files are saved just as they were attached.

Put each email and its attachments in one PDF. The attachment pages follow the email, with bookmarks and a list of attachments.

Save identical attachments only once. Saves disk space.

Highlight words in the PDFs. Colors your words in the Subject, From, To and Cc lines and in the email text. Only the PDFs change, never your emails. "smith" marks only Smith; "smith*" also marks Smithson.

Read words in pictures and scans. Optional and slower (about a second per picture). Works best on clear printed text, not photos or handwriting.

Email Chains. Groups emails into conversations so you can look at them and pick them. You can also save one report per chain.

How many PDFs to make at the same time. More is faster; fewer is gentler on a busy Mac.

Common questions

A file would not open. Very old 32-bit PST files and some encrypted files are not supported. The app says so and what to do.

Word, Excel and PowerPoint attachments. Word files are converted to PDF. Other office files are saved as the original, and the run summary says which.

Where do my files go? Only to the output folder you choose. Nothing is uploaded.
